I Love Barbecue Junior World Championship
“Get all Fired up” For the Second I Love Barbecue Junior World Championships
For the second year in a row Lake Placid, NY will be hosting I love Barbecue Jr. World Championships (ILBJWC). The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), the world’s largest organization of barbecue and grilling enthusiasts. On July 3rd, the best junior teams from USA and Canada will square of for the title of I love Barbecue Junior World Champion.
The ILBJWC will consist of four categories: pork ribs, chicken, steak, and dessert. For Rules and Regulations please visit www.ilbbqf.com This event is open to culinary/barbecue enthusiast ages 16- 21 who are eligible win up to $5,000 in cash and also receive scholarship funds ($20,000,00 in total for top 3 teams) from Paul Smiths College of the Adirondacks www.paulsmiths.edu. Paul Smith’s College, the college of the Adirondacks home of the nationally recognized Culinary and Hospitality education, has made an unprecedented commitment to support I love Barbecue Junior World Championships.
This year we have also added the ILBJWC Youth division. If you are 12-15 years old and would like to showcase your culinary/BBQ talents, this competition is for you. On July 3rd youth teams will compete for $1000 in cash and other great prizes. For rules and regulation please visit www.ilbbqf.com.
The mission of the Junior World Barbecue Championships is to celebrate, teach, promote and encourage our young generation of barbecue enthusiasts and competitors, and to promote the American style of barbecue as a sport and an art form. This is also a forum for today’s youth to showcase their talents and passion for barbecue.
All proceeds of this event benefit the Shipman Youth Center, a not-for-profit community organization providing support to children and youth ages 10-18. The center was inspired by Thomas Shipman, a designated Lake Placid youth Police officer who died in 1995 and built with community donations of money, material, and labor. For the last 8 years SYC has provided services to hundreds of children. SYC provides a supervised safe and exciting environment where local children can grow and develop as individuals. 2010 I Love Barbecue Junior World Championship
If you are between 16-21 years old and an aspiring barbecue enthusiast, this event is just for you. The Lake Placid, NY - I Love Barbecue Festival is presenting the 2nd Annual Junior World Barbecue Championship, July 2-3rd, 2010. For the second time in US and World history, 16-21 year old barbecue competitors will vie for the title of the Junior World Barbecue Champion and $1,000.00 in cash and prizes. The second and third place teams, in this Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event, will come away with $500.00 in cash and prizes.
The I love Barbecue Junior World Championship will consist of four categories: pork ribs, chicken, New York strip steak and dessert. Each category purse is worth $750 and will be divided among the top five finishers. The event, being held on the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games Speed Skating Oval on Main Street and will be limited to 24 teams.

Programs include homework time and assistance, community services, recreational services, weekly family style dinners, dances, and guest speakers. SYC provides a supervised safe and exciting environment where local children can grow and develop as individuals.
