Local Clubs and Not-for-Profits Step up to Support Lake Placid Barbeque Festival

LAKE PLACID , N.Y. – Local service organizations and not-for-profit organizations are all lending their support for the July 3 and 4 Lake Placid , NY —I Love Barbeque Festival (ILBBQF) being held in Lake Placid , N.Y. The Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs are all organizing volunteers, as well as offering financial support.

USA Luge is even supporting the two-day festival by dedicating three members of its marketing staff to help promote the event. The staff members are organizing marketing, entertainment and public relations.

“I think that it's important to be involved within the community and support events like this,” mentioned USA Luge executive director, Ron Rossi. “The Shipman Youth Center plays an important role in the development of our youth I'm pleased that our organization is able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause.”

Twenty-five teams, nationwide, are expected to compete for $7,500.00 in prize money in four different categories of beef brisket, chicken, pulled pork and pork ribs. In addition to the prize money, the squads will also be competing for the title of festival grand champion, and who will be eligible to participate in the American Royal and Kansas City Barbecue national championship, held every year in Kansas City , Mo. This team, along with three additional New York state teams, could also qualify for the Jack Daniels World Barbeque Championships.

Proceeds from the Lake Placid , NY – I Love Barbeque Festival will benefit the Shipman Youth Center of Lake Placid, a not-for-profit community organization, which provides support to area youth, ages 10-18.  The Lake Placid , NY—I Love Barbeque Festival will be held on the Olympic Speedskating Oval. Admission is $5 and free for children under 12. Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 3 and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 4.
